Let's just consider what the most giving of church, viz The Salvation Army does. It moves among the neediest of people, those without shelter for the night, those who have been victims of domestic violence, those with drug and alcohol problems, homeless people, etc. They never think of judging those people. They offer comfort and compassion and help wherever they can do so.

Hence a question like "why prisoners are being rewarded with home made biscuits" makes little sense. When Easter comes they all get a small packet of biscuits because they are humans. No questions asked.

Christians in the church recognise they have been put into prison for serious offending but we don't know the circumstances of their upbringing, their struggles or their misdemeanours/crimes. It is not our business. They are already being punished and the church does not align itself with the notion of wanting to hurt people. Their business is compassion and grace towards others. They ask nothing in return..........it's just a simple, kind gesture.
