The Chief Scientist has released a report on the future of a Hydrogen industry in Australia. The report has apparently been received enthusiastically at last week's meeting of CoAG energy ministers.

Haven't read it in detail yet but the headline includes producing hydrogen from coal or methane with CCS, so perhaps Dr Finkel is not yet aware of Hazer (though the Hazer process is certainly hydrogen production with carbon capture).
