Avenging the Prophet appears to be the most cited rationale for Islamic terrorist atrocities.
Any religious deity that would instruct or encourage such retribution for non compliance with religious edicts is imo a failed, flawed human and not a heavenly or spiritual being and is certainly not worthy of being followed or revered.
Any religion whose teachings can be manipulated to justify terrorist atrocities is flawed and its clergy need to step up efforts to correct such off the rails, antisocial interpretations, or that religion is not a religion, but a cult.
Above all else, religions are a code or guide to acceptable human behaviours and interactions ... imo satisfying that basic pretext separates worthy religions from aberrant organisations like cults.
