Yehowah appeared to Abraham. The story then is expanded in more detail.

Take your time and do a little more research and you should see why.
Yehowah has just been discussing with the others whether to let Abraham in on his plans for Sodom etc.
When they are ready to leave Abraham stands in the way of Yehowah appearing as a man, and begins his plea for sparing Sodom whilst the others depart on their mission.
So the context is all about Sodom and immediately continues with the 2 angels meeting Lot. Remember the chapters were put in later.
It's the simplest and most compelling version.
Then go and do some research on why all those people went up to Exmouth to see a TOTAL eclipse rather than borrow your welding helmet to see a vastly less spectacular 70% partial eclipse.
