I see you're going the hardcore programming route! Good luck with that I hope you do well at it & get some trading concepts coded successfully.
Speaking of goals, I basically have one goal for 2019 - to make the transition from student to trader making a living from forex trading fully automated using EAs.
I proved to myself last year I could put together a trading model that is profitable (trading manually) and stick to the model's trading rules, etc, and turned that model into an EA which is now running live. Launched another 2 EA's live today and plan to launch a 4th EA live by the end of Jan, and target 6-8 EA's running live by the end of June. That gives a good 6-12 months with a portfolio of EA's to see whether I will make it or not.
