'The largest supplier of oil for Germany was the Ploiești oil refineries in Romania. The Allies repeatedly tried to bomb these refineries during the war, believing that they could shut off Germany's oil supplies, but failed to do pretty much anything to stop the supply of oil.
Germany also produced synthetic oil.
