    Not sure why you regard that particular formulation as definitive. Nor why it should be considered of any use for a practical understanding of the many claims and questions about free will.

    What does that even mean ... independently of "the state of the universe." ?
    How can anything in the Universe be independent of the state of the Universe ?
    Why not just say "Free will is impossible and non existent because that's how the editors of the famous Britannica.com defined it."

    Maybe it means something to those who endlessly engage in philosophical knitting about such questions like a bunch of ladies at a the local cross stitch/knitting club.

    Doesn't make sense to me so would be grateful for your explanation.

    (Please don't use the "difference between" site for info as the last one didn't seem even to understand that he was talking only about optical illusions.)
