different breeds, react differently, but after 40 years-6 dogs- from Rottie ( biggest couch potato ) to GS, and Golden Retriever, please, don't be tooooo concerned about a little fretting. You should be surprised if he/she didn't miss you. pls dont let your dog dictate all of your holiday travel time. As, for not eating well, no dog has yet staved itself to death, because the owner is away for a few weeks. good luck
