Keycorp Smartcard Technology Selected for Taiwan Project
Millions of residents in seven cities in southern Taiwan will soon be issued with new technology from Australia's Keycorp in the form of the recently-developed MULTOS contactless smartcard product named the TaiwanMoney Card. This new contactless card will be issued by banks for use in the area's transportation system.
The technology is said to be the world's first MasterCard OneSMART PayPass chip combi card. The Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government (KCG) selected a consortium involving MasterCard International and other partners to provide the system which features Keycorp's new contactless MULTOS smartcard technology.
Keycorp is a founding member of the MULTOS consortium, which has responsibility for developing the MULTOS multi-application smartcard operating system. The company develops and distributes smartcard operating systems such as MULTOS as well as smartcard applications. Keycorp's e-commerce platform delivers secure end-to-end online transaction processing interfacing services like integrated voice response (IVR), call centers, mail, telephone or fax ordering and Internet-based transactions.
