It's amazing how graphics can be deceptive at first glance. Volkswagen seems to be well supplied according to the graph.In reality, they are pinning their hopes largely on DLE(VUL) and they have a supply contract with Ganfeng. They are on the lookout in Canada.Will that be enough?At least the text refers to a shortfall despite existing supply contracts:
Like the two electric car world market leaders and three established competitors, Volkswagen can show contracts for all important battery metals or a replacement strategy, according to the analysis. However, this does not mean that the necessary quantities are secured: Based on the analysis of published documents, T&E comes to the conclusion that long-term contracts have so far covered less than a fifth of the cobalt, lithium and nickel volume required for European electric cars.
