I track the short interest in #lithium stocks. Data for mid March is now available. One observation is that the aggregate short interest in the 7 big names I track is now just over US$4.5bn & a new ATH for this cycle. An interesting, but possibly irrelevant reference point, is that the revenue value for the global #Lithium industry in 2023 was ~$8.2bn. The shorts have have an equity bet HALF of the entire #lithium industry - because they can't short the commodity!!!! When the cycle turns, & IMO its a WHEN not if, it is going to be like watching a heard of elephants trying to go through a revolving door. All at the same time. Carnage. o $ALB large increase in SI to 12% of the equity (related to the CB I suspect) o $PLS SI down small from end Feb but still 20.3% of the equity. $MIN 6.05%. $LTR 10% o $SGML up small in the period & 16.9% of the ex A10 float o $SQM & $ALTM small % of shares outstanding - but big in $ terms.
