BURU Energy has revealed details about its planned four-well fraccing campaign in the Kimberley region, with plans for a smaller than expected campaign.
The company now says Valhalla North-1 will see six fracs conducted between 2825m and 3305m while Asgard-1 will have seven fracs between 2740m and 3450m.
A similar program will take place in the Yulleroo-3 and Yulleroo-4 wells.
The wells will be fracced from the deepest zones in the Laurel formation first, with Condor Energy Services gradually working up the well.
Buru’s frac fluid will be 98% water and salt, with no serious carcinogenic properties or chronic impacts for any of the other fluids.
The fluid system is 70 times lower than the acute national guidelines limit of very slightly toxic and 6300 times lower than the chronic national guideline limit of very slightly toxic.
The fraccing will take place deep below the Liveringa aquifer, which extends from about 30m depth at Valhalla North-1 to 290m.
Given the nature of the activity and the measures to be implemented, risks to shallow groundwater aquifers are unlikely, Buru says.
It could take 16,000 years for any frac fluid to migrate from the well locations to the Fitzroy River.
The company has also pledged to monitor are qualify during any flaring, and will sample the flowback water.
