LHi ChuckI suggest that it's the Getups of this world that are best at suppressing any politician that they don't like.
There is something creepy about an organisation that operates like Getup does - they particularly seem to specialise in attacking individual politicians from outside that individual's electorates. That doesn't fit my idea of how our democratic system is meant to operate.
They could have saved their resources (who funds them?) and asked me to give them their members' wish list - Adani? Health spending ? (demand infinite, funding limited), the few people living freely on Manus and Nauru?.
They could also have asked our soon to be Deputy PM, she has the same high-school level list of priorities for the country. Or the Silly Greens for that matter.
Of course they have the right to poll their members - just let's not encourage them.
