JULIA Gillard has rejected former Prime Minister John Howard’s claim that she played the misogyny card while in office.
Ms Gillard said people should be praised for calling out sexism, just as footballers like Adam Goodes have been praised for speaking out against racism in their sport.
In a recent Sunday Night interview, Mr Howard slammed the ex-Labor leader for her “nonsense” speech to Parliament in 2012, which quickly went viral.
“I don’t think it resonated,” he said, criticising Ms Gillard for playing what he referred to as the “misogyny card”.
“I think it’s the worst possible way of promoting a greater involvement of women in public life.”
