    we are in an inter-glacial period. During inter-glacial periods the total amount of ice reduces on the planet. In glacial periods (ice ages) the amount of ice increases.

    Sea levels rose hundreds of m over several decades at the end of the last ice age 12000 years ago - solar cycles, wobbles in earth orbit, space object impacts and volcanic activity cycles play a role

    There is still some significant land ice remaining in Antarctica and Greenland that will melt and raise sea levels while the balmy intergalacial continues. Sea level is rising around 3mm per year once you add Glacial Isostatic Uplift fudge factors. In most cases the land is rising almost as fast as the sea because it isnt weighed down with cubic kilometers of ice coverage - hence the fudge factor.
