I disagree that gold has protected your purchasing power in fact you're going underwater at a colossal rate compared with say Sydney property or the DJIA. The DJIA chart only goes to 2013 and gold has plunged since then and the DJIA doesn't include dividends.
DJIA vs gold, you can pretend it's all hunk dory and dress accordingly but actually it's an extremely grim picture for overexposed goldbugs.
Maybe I'll see you on my next trip to Europe, I've got some free business class tickets left over, I expect by then you'll be paying for your orange juice in steerage if this continues, that won't be much fun, but I'll venture down there and buy you a drink.
