exactly.
and with the DOW, when one stock is kicked out, its usually because its lost value, and therefore a new company will be entered into that particular index. so its a self filling system, where only good stocks are kept, which over a period of years would have caught many an unwary investor out.
so gold can be compared to other commodities, or even other monetary units, such as FIAT currency and that by comparing buying power of a said monetary unit.
we've all bought stocks , only to see companies fail, of fall in value.
but i have not had that problem with gold.
it is still an ounce of shiny value, and unless I'm robbed it always will be tangible, even if the price moves around.
