The country has come a long way in a short time since Live Aid! It's standards of living are unrecognisable to just a few years ago. This transformation would not have been possible with gold as a monetary base. Through innovative capital management humankind has benefited in that small corner of the world.

Decent people would rejoice in that success story. A story that could not be told if gold had prominence, global markets would be choked by capital constraints caused by gold.

Thankfully gold is a minor speculative instrument that will drift further and further into the annals of history, no relevance in global trade.

Why not? The US became the richest country in the world, per capita, on a Gold standard during the roaring 20's. Huge technological advances occurred.
