ESS is a sleeping giant putting an amount on how much lithium it will consume is pretty much a guess. ESS lends itself to all types of batteries, the primary being weight, sodium, vanadium etc could be used. However lithium still has the advantage and a lot of ESS are lithium, I have one in the garage. It's going to pay for itself within 5 years. Lithium batteries get a lot of R&D compared to the rest and we are going to see some slick new ones hit the market in the next few years. Solid state being the next to arrive.
