The hybrid path allows for service stations to convert to fast charging stations imo.
It effectively means that the distribution network of food and other services can be maintained for all the stakeholders. I envisage conversion over coming years reflective of ff demand slowing and fast charging demand growth.
in line with your latest EV review post dfs1 - if you can top up in 10 mins for an added 2-300km the facilities required for distance travel remain- kfc, mcd's and toilets etc.
I also think the towing barrier is now broken. Replace the chassis on that people mover with a Ute and bingo just about there.
I know when I tow my van distance I always tend to do approx 200km sections - stop to refresh/refuel/eat/wc. Longer than 3 hrs towing a big van in one sitting is pretty exhausting tbh.
An EV with capacity to tow 3hrs and fast charge in 1/2 hr would do me - and most realists I'd suggest.
Now it really just becomes an infrastructure issue to provide the fast chargers. imo.
