The Spanish and Portuguese lirhium mines were always going to cause environmental backlash and articles in the press from years ago confirm this, unfortunately since on of my posts got moderated because the news was old news, referring to how Chris Ellison became a major shareholder of PLS, I won't post the reference.
The other spod mines in Europe are in Southern Ireland, owned by Ganfeng,
Czechoslovakia, an old tin mine and one in Finland. From my research they will not have the environmental issues of the other 2. The one in Austria is not on the main tourist route but who knows.
Then there will be Geothermal lithium from Germany and the U.K.
Canada are gearing up for the European market with their spod and LiOH using hydro power.
Australia will have 5 LiOH refineries producing the same amount of LiOH that China was producing last year all have major EV customers.
Who will need PLS spod for which LiOH refinery if POSCO fails to happen?

Look at the growth of LG Chem an old AJM customer, but is a customer of POSCO.
I wonder how LG Energy feel about POSCO doing a deal with PLS.
Clearly LG Energy were unhappy and did not move their offtakes to PLS after the acquisition.
