And evolution, what possible purpose is to be served by gaining in complexity. Why evolve beyond the first single-celled organism that had the entire planet to itself without the need to evolve against competition.

Why would evolution produce a sentient, self-aware ape so far removed from all other life forms? Why produce an ape that dreams about the stars, the creation of the universe, the condition of love, and whether such a universe created itself from chaos when in all our history not one single act of chaos has ever spontaneously constructed anything.

When we pull the nails out of a building it falls down. When we blow the pillars of a tower it crashes to the ground. When we cut a tree it topples to the ground. Whatever emanates, causes, inflates, causes to bind, forces unimaginable quantities of energy to be bound-up within a single atom, were it to cease for an instant the entire fabric of the universe would fly apart into nothingness.

And so -"There is absolutely nothing to fear about tomorrow for God is already there" But this 'God' is unknowable, unimaginable, unattainable and beyond the ken of men and angels. For nothing produces exactly nothing and Something is needed to produce something and that Something is timeless, pre-existent and constantly present and every atom testifies to this.

Glorious philosophical quotes by the way. Never heard of this guy and now you have set me a little task to get aquatinted with his works. Nothing like the spectre of death hanging over ones head to enable one to get all philosophical.
