What choice do the kids have about it? NONE!
So your kid will either embarass other kids for the sake of your own preferences, and the parent's preferences? Or your kid will get corrected in front of the class by the teacher? None of this is good.
Eventually your kid might grow up and think you're a dork on these issues, but that's for later on. At that age kids idolise their parents.
(Also I wonder if homosexuality really is a choice? But that's another issue. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that one in my life. Oh yer and before you jump down my throat, I'm straight. But I have learned a lot since I once had attitudes similar to yours).
