Yes can happen . I have a friend who has one son OK and the other battling drug dependency, So can be from outside influence you have no control over, as he started on smoking grass at 12 yr at school and progressed to "Ice".
You can pick their schools, but not their teachers or their playmates. Parents can only do their best.
