The numbers are misleading imo. Look at the races, not the numbers.
He arguably should have won the Vic Derby, instead of running 3rd. It was run a good track - 2.36.16 and home in 35.66. He came from well back too, so what was his last 600ms?.
He is just not a wet-tracker. He is adept in all going; maybe even better on top of the ground.
I have watched a re-run of The Bart Cummings after reading comments here and there that D Oliver was kind to Almandin in the straight. Hmmm! He could have been more vigorous, that's for sure, but by using the whip only I think. That said though, I think that it still was a disappointing run.
