According to the statistics although oil trebled in price in the mid 2000s it didn't impact inflation so why all the fuss if its falling in regards deflation? Zero interest rates fuels deflation in my book. If you don't place a value on your currency it creates a malaise in the economy. Although the US is a different beast to Japan.
