President Trump is doubling down on threats against Iran’s cultural heritage sites, which he says are at risk if the country attacks Americans. While speaking from Air Force One Sunday, the president said Iran cannot be allowed to kill and torture Americans while the U.S. is prevented from touching these particular sites.
On Saturday, President Trump said the U.S. has identified 52 Iranian sites that it will hit “very hard and very fast” if Iran strikes Americans or American assets. Iran’s foreign minister has since responded, saying targeting cultural sites is a war crime.

Suleimani was not connected to Iranian Culture.
More than fair game.
But such a brazen threat to obliterate World Heritage sites will shrink America
to a Taliban (remember Bamiyan) level of loss of civility.
America can do better and hopefully the retraction will be delivered in real time.
