Following a year of severe overcapacities, weak downstream demand and downwards pricing pressure, the first three quarters of 2015 have provided further challenges for graphite producers, despite declining Chinese flake graphite output.
The first nine months of 2015, which began on a relatively stable note, have turned out to be more challenging than the equivalent period of the previous year, with slowing downstream markets, weakening economies and overcapacity pushing prices down to new lows, with some grades touching pre-boom levels.
