Yeah, well, it actually has to be covered by the policy for you to claim on it , but that has got me running for my policy to see if my fences are covered .....
It's certainly helpful to know how they operate. Nowadays every conversation is taped and all data at their fingertips, but 30+ years ago I tried to pay a hotel bill with my credit card, and when the receptionist called the company for confirmation, I'd gone over the limit. Rather than just bounce the card (which would have been awkward) the credit card company asked to speak to me (sounds rather quaint now) and asked, rather haughtily, if I would be able to pay some off the amount soon. I said that she could see my payment record in front of her, couldn't she? She sounded a bit stunned that I knew, but cautiously agreed. So I pointed out that I had always paid the amount in full by the due date, and I would certainly do the same this time. All was good. And three weeks earlier I had just audited a credit card company.
