Within a nano-second of reading the (currently) anonymous article it read to me as coming from Mike Pence's keyboard and not just because of the reference to "lodestar".
The piece written eloquently, it is restrained and seems to come from the vantage point of one who has actually seeks to pursue the GOP electoral agenda. The author has a very broad remit and was not trying to avoid rarely used words that would identify who he is.
Key points:
1. Mike Pence is an elected politician and
cannot be fired by Trump.
2. Pence can fire Trump on the grounds of mental incapacity.
3. If Pence is the author, the piece is just a preliminary teaser. In the lead up to the mid term elections a Republican putsch may be in play. If so, Trump will know about it by now because Pence would be likely to follow through on this
quickly and would IMO tell Trump directly.
4. Maybe Mueller's people have talked to Pence. If so, Pence would be able to offer Trump the option of leaving with a pardon. The alternative is impeachment by a (likely) Democrat led House and Senate and from there Trump would get no immunity from criminal prosecution once he left office. He would be shown the door and forcibly removed if need be.
Other Points
Treason is carefully defined by the US constitution to mean giving aid and assistance to a foreign enemy. Those who know the Constitution say it was carefully worded this way to avoid its use in the context of the kind of political argy bargy we see ATM. Trump does not understand this. Trump does not even understand that both elected and appointed officials have a first worn duty to protect the Constitution ……. not the individual that sits in the President's chair.
To sum up, if Pence is the author he won't stay anonymous for long and Trump will be out of office within a few weeks. This is political dynamite IMHO but it's something I predicted before Trump even took the oath of office.
