I would just like to add, that in 1992 the proportion of Australians in Unions was about 40%.
In 2013 it was about 17-18%. Source is article in WE Australian.
So as the Union numbers have come down, I believe the Unions had to find other sources of revenue.
That is from Companies, or where ever!
Now it is my belief that(some) of the Union hierarchy look at this extorted money as their own.
They then spend how they like, on what they like.
The Unions have become so good at the extortion racket, that they then(some) started to bleed the system(Union Funds) for their own personal use.
That is where we are now, and we sit on the sideline watching a RC into union corruption, wondering if there will be any beneficial outcomes.
It was always going to explode! One of the triggers was Kathy Jackson and another was the coming to power of the Coalition Government.`
The rules have to be changed, for the Unions handling of Funds. The RC is the foundation of that change process.
Its a big task!!!
