...if there is one spot consistently great in the markets its US technology stocks but the well established and proven ones. Except that this recognition is or could be already late in the piece.

....they have that no other markets have. Solid state of the art technology that rules the world. That has been what made America great. But that didn't come from nowhere - it came from its ability to bring the best brains from all over the world to the US.

....will a more insular America make America great? What we've seen with the Nasdaq doing gangbusters over the past decades could simply be wasted away (similar to how Hong Kong lost its lustre after the decline/end of pro-democracy) if the USA alienates the best from thriving in the America they once knew. Then the next 10 years of America and its Nasdaq could well be different from the ones we saw in the past. One man could bring about this change, the likely next President of the USA, Donald Trump, if we see status quo political contention.

....ironically while HK crumbles with its loss of democracy as the US commonly claims, the US could similarly face the same fate with an impending loss of democracy itself. Performed by its very own people.

....such political transformation throws considerable risk and uncertainty to the longer term outlook and prosperity of US companies and the stock market, which should lead us not to take for granted than long term stock investments must necessarily be better (even that is what we have had over the years in the past).
