most that I've known personally haven't felt the need as they live here in that same way they might live in NZ.... free and fair.
all that I've known had their children here so they were necessarily Aus citizens by birth. Most were frequent travellers across the ditch visiting friends and families or doing business. to them Aus and NZ were really one country.
also, during my 8 years in the prison system I only ever met one kiwi with an accent.... the rest......
