didn't the americans back regime change in syria???? - not that the middle east , with their religion, is remotely suited to democracy. the so called arab spring has been a total failure - and it is so obvious that these head loppers need to be ruled with an iron fist. assaad obviously had to rule syria with an iron fist - but it seems that the minorities were protected.
democracy gave egypt the muslim brotherhood, a mob that previous egyption dictators banned. once the muslim brotherhood got control in egypt - then the christian minority were turned upon.. lucky that egypt is back to defacto military rule.
libya has become a basket case - so much for the arab spring in libya - and iraq has become a disaster, since the ousting of hussein.
