It's a nice thought Glug . I agree to sell a budget you need to show people that you're taking something off the purportedly well off . I think that's right .
But the truth is that welfare expenditure is set to go through the roof given the demographics ,you're never going to get enough in . Plus the reality is that you need to encourage people to be industrious and you can't do that by taxing them.
These are deep seated issues that have been brewing for decades ,plus the politics of it with the greens having embedded themselves as a quasi policy maker for the left ,make it very tough to talk sensibly abut it . They have a guerrilla force that inundates the airwaves the moment someone says something they don't like.
But yes ,the attempts to sell the policies to at least address the problem have ,to date ,been abysmal and obviously there needs to be more of an attempt to make it look as if the burden is being equally distributed
