    Money is one aspect , but outcomes are another.
    In the end you go through months of looking like a balloon , nauseated and tired , the pain of childbirth , to get a good result .
    So the minor discomfort or inconvenience of being in a big public hospital vs a flashy private hospital is peanuts .
    I attended a dinner years ago with a lot of nurses on the table , most were planning for their eventual obstetric care to be at a big public hospital , because if something went wrong with them or the infant, that's where they wanted to be.
    Now money does have a role, the medicare rates for a very scary job are abysmal , so there is always going to be huge gaps unless you want the orderly doing the delivery.
    Those abysmal medicare rates are down to the Libs , just in case anyone is wondering.
