To be honest I don't regard Tehran to be the same affront to decency and civilisation as some of our allies... such as Saudi Arabia - who in the past months have beheaded about 7 people, one of whom was beheaded for the crime of 'sorcery'.

We liked to paint people like Ahmedinejad as a bad boy (who eschewed all luxury and slept on the floor), and his statements about nuclear weapons were grossly misinterpreted by the western press (he stated 'Iran is a nuclear state' - in reference to the fact that they very much are users of nuclear, for medical and energy needs.. it was simple politician bluster). Last year, they had an election, and he was replaced by a fellow who is even more moderate. It's important to note that Iran had an election, because unlike nearly ever other country in the region, they have some semblance of democracy, as opposed to nearly every other country in the area who has been ruled by the same guy since the time of the Rolling Stones.

Iran has never had nukes, and has no intention to have nukes. The Ayatollah declared them 'unislamic', but more importantly, the worlds leading nuclear agencies and scientists have never made any official statement suggesting that they have nukes or are trying to build them.
