The governments could be a lot more proactive in creating social housing by buying up disused offices, hotels, warehouses, factories etc & converting them to apartments. Australia's attitude is always to pull everything down & start from scratch, other countries are much more creative in re-purposing property. For instance on Chapel St in Prahran a lot of the shops have upper floors that are completely vacant & disused, including big stores like Coles.
