The reason that she would be on a Customs watch list could be that she was part of a crime under international maritime law, off the Italian coast.

If she is a Muslim, Christian, Judaist, Ba'athist, Hindu, etc. with extreme views that have incited violence elsewhere, that is a reason too.

And she admits to having lied too on her forms, and this appears to refer to the UK. So was this staged? Was she trying to be banned by pretending to be Pakistani so she could complain about it?

Yeah - I've never lied or played around with forms eg calling myself Indian just for kicks. You just don't. You are acting like an idiot if that is the case.
Still, Australia's borders are open for jihadists too. We are the nicest Infidels going around.
