if you were able to manage situations with grace and thoughtfulness good on you. But I wonder if a common thread in your posts is that you seem to think others should be like that as well, or you judge through your own frame of reference, values and beliefs.
while at one level that is understandable people are different - different upbringing, different personality profiles and characteristics, different cultures, blues and beliefs and different practices.
if we are to make any sense of the world and maintain compassion we must learn to stand in others shoes. We may not approve still and we may maintain our own preferences but understanding is a whole lot more sensible than not.
and in anticipation - I am NOT suggesting and anything goes society.
