I know that this is all old news now but I do wonder what we have learnt that was not known in the two weeks following the siege
Countless millions of dollars and continuing anguish for those involved was the only account paid
But there is one result which is a constant in Australian public life, especially the upper end of Australian life :-- there is never anyone at the top who is penalized for what they have done.
From sports people taking drugs, RC into child abuse, politicians acting badly, unions ripping off their members, the list of high profile people who skate is never ending.
The ordinary person must sometimes wonder why they go through life obeying the law and trying to instill in their children the fallacy that the law matters.
