The way I understand it is that China has regulated to protect their homegrown battery production by making it compulsory for foreign companies to use China made batteries while Chinese EV manufactures can choose to use batteries from foreign manufacturers. Which are far superior. Just a point of interest as the ability for GM to find a suitable battery supply in China then becomes a barrier to entry into the Chinese EV market. Same applies to all other foreign EV manufacturers.
