Re: RK1 Project ships first concentrate
The directors of Sylvania Resources Limited (“Sylvania”) are pleased to announce that the RK1 Chrome Tailings Retreatment project has shipped its first concentrate production on January 21 2005.
The plant was commissioned during December and commenced production early in January. It is expected to produce 28,000 PGM ounces per annum in steady state production.
Sylvania owns 25% of the RK consortium, along with Aquarius Platinum Limited (50%) and GB Mining & Exploration (SA) (Pty) Limited (25%). The operation will initially treat 20,000 tonnes of chromite tailings per month, at an average grade of 4 g/PGM t for 12 years.
The Managing Director of Sylvania, Grant Button, said “We are delighted to see this project come into production in time and within budget. It is a reflection of the professionalism and experience of the consortium members and we look forward to commencing work on future RK chromite retreatment projects with our partners.”
