The lockdown in NZ would've failed too if they'd flown in hundreds, no thousands, of international passengers then loosely quarantined them in a Rydges Hotel with the same untrained, unqualified, young quarantine-guards many of whom were engaged through social posts put online on WattsApp and given a 5 minute chat, one disposable mask and no hand-sanitiser or gloves and NFI.

Over a hundred Covid-19-infected humans yesterday, 30th July, in Victoria were not present at their place of quarantine when checked on by authorities. Some have been going to work we are told!

But yes, you're correct they, New Zealanders, valued their community whereas our Victoria's authorities didn't place the same necessity or compulsion on enforcement so many Victorians who were fully aware they were obliged to be in quarantine for 14 days, didn't meet that obligation and this is still happening today.

Nearly 200 years ago, the Port Philip District of New South Wales, set up the Port Nepean Quarantine Station with well-separated cottages, not multi-story incubators, for ship passengers coming on typhoid carrying ships.
It is still there and so too is Christmas Is.

All incoming humans to Australia should've also copped that 40 days quarantine with no human contact or don't get on a plane if you don't want to wear it.
