Actually Materialism is a form of philosophy and this forum is "Religion and Philosophy". You also assume that the only viewpoint I am interested in (which I am not).
Your viewpoints, whilst containing merit, are narrow in you are excluding other perspectives. For example, whilst someone who derives happiness (I would say pleasure) does not need an understanding of the brain to realize the experience, this does not invalidate the an analysis of the material workings of the brain the arise from the experience.
You falsely assume I am uninterested in spiritual questions because I am also interested in the mechanics of the physical world.
