The traditional OEMers are now lobbying for delays. But did the Western World react any differently to the emerging Japanese or Korean auto manufacturers when they began producing and attained the success they now have? The auto scene is about to dramatically change and a few old names might very likely disappear from the market just like Kodak, Xerox and others. Chinese made EV cars are going to be the flavour of the month until the Western world wakes up and competes, despite current attempts to use brand names to hide place of manufacture for cost and expertise reasons imo.
