I've seen people here - highly qualified people who work for progressive companies and have positions which pay highly and they travel to all parts of the world sent by their companies to upgrade plants or design etc etc
they look at Australia when told about what labour is paid --------- then, they look at the opportunities AND things like rents etc and they say ----------------- arrrrh, no thanks
to go to Oz - pay through the nose for rents, (although at this level, rents are paid) work for a going nowhere company, come back home and they have a hole in their resume called Australia - where you might be better off saying 'took 2 years off, went mountain climbing'
na Oz has lost it's attraction when people look at the fine print
the only pull Oz has got now is some left over ghosting fantasy about Crocodile Dundee and kangaroos
'manufacturing' - is about as exciting and desirable as putting a hot iron on your hand -
now, if you had a position where you were building a sun probe or developing new materials and you already had a start and had some great results from your research --------- different matter
'research' ------- oh, what's that??
Oz needs to start at the beginning ----------- where's that? ------------- house the population and educate them ---------------------- and make it cheap or free
then - Oz might get somewhere - unfortunately in the 'race' - the other mobs have been sprinting for years whilst the great scomo's kept telling us 'it's not a race'
