I know there has been some concern about the upcoming elections in Malaysia and I ran across these articles (Najib must call the elections, anytime before next Summer)... It would seem that the political situation is not as dire as some would have you think...
"KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak today cranked up the election war cry, calling United Malays National Organization (UNMO) members to deliver home a landslide victory in the looming general election." (UNMO is Malaysia's largest political party)
As the opposition gears up for the election here is the challenger from another article:
"KUALA LUMPUR: Former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, 92, is seen as the strongest candidate to challenge the rule of current premier Najib Razak in the country’s upcoming election, say observers and analysts."
I don't see age as a problem so much as the sense that Najib is much more organized with his political machine and this may prove difficult for the opposition to overcome. It always has in the past but hey, I'm from the US, things can happen...
While Najib's election is no guarantee, It seems like he always manages to pull the rabbit from the hat. In any event he sounds like he is in good form for this election...
