It is known that the average straight line distance from Earth to Sun is 93,000,000 miles....
Mechanically the Earth equatorial rotation is 1000mph and for it to travel on its equator 93,000,000 miles around ( not direct ) Sun takes 10.62 years! The variables that make up this number changing is a study in itself.
So what happens at the avg. 10.62 years with Earth along with the Sun Solar Cycle.. Sometimes in sync sometimes outta sync .
Talk about an Astrophysics phenomenon.
