When I was a boy, Wedgetail eagle carcasses were strung up on fences after being shot by farmers who suspected the birds of killing lambs. This was supposedly to scare other birds off - can't see how it would work, but there certainly was a large decrease in Wedgie populations until they were exonerated (the birds were feasting on carrion, dogs and foxes are more likely killers) and protected.
